Space
Vision built for the harshest environment of all
Space is the ultimate test for a vision system. Orbital platforms operate against extremes of dynamic range no terrestrial camera will ever face — the blinding contrast between a sunlit Earth limb and the black of space, the glare of direct sunlight on a target surface set against deep shadow, and the relentless cycling between day and night every ninety minutes in low Earth orbit. Add high closing velocities, tight SWaP budgets, and a radiation environment that degrades conventional silicon over time, and the challenge becomes clear. Radsul's SuliCore™ enabled vision solutions (embedded in reference designs using rad-tolerant sensing and processing elements) are purpose-built for exactly these conditions.
By responding only to change, with microsecond precision and native high dynamic range, SuliCore™ enabled sensors sidestep the saturation, blur, and bandwidth problems that plague frame-based imagers in orbit. Less data off the focal plane means less downlink, less on-board storage, and less processing power burned on redundant pixels — a decisive advantage when every watt and every bit per second is accounted for.
